Namsaling Community Development Center (NCDC) is selected as Regional Technical Service Provider (RTSC) of Alternative Energy Promotion Center/National Rural and Renewable Energy Programme (AEPC/NRREP) under ministry of Population and Environment in province number 1 of Nepal to provide technical support for implementing Renewable Energy Projects. The project is started in January 2018 and works on different subcomponent such as Pico/Micro/Mini Hydro Projects, Solar Energy, Biomass Energy, Climate and Carbon and Productive Energy Use.

NCDC has already worked as Regional Service Center (RSC) of AEPC/NRREP within seven hill districts of eastern Nepal from 2001 to 2017 for the promotion and dissemination of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs). Now, Nepal is restructured on seven provinces within the country in which NCDC works as Regional Technical Service Provider (RTSP) of AEPC/NRREP for 14 districts (i.e. all the districts of Province No. 1) of Nepal for the promotion and dissemination of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs).

RSC facilitates the users/developers in all the stages of Micro/Pico hydro development. Also, RSC would facilitate the establishment of end-uses development from the Micro Hydro Project. RSC/NCDC has facilitated to establish 250 Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and 486 Income Generating Activities (IGAs) within the working area. RSC/NCDC has facilitated to complete about 370 numbers of MH/PH projects until 2017 from which 2003 kW is generated and providing electricity to about 16076 numbers of rural households of eastern Nepal. Also, there are about 40 numbers of MH projects in under construction stage till the end of December 2017 from which 969 kW would be generated and would provide electricity to about 7935 numbers of rural households.

RSC facilitates for the promotion and dissemination of biomass energy technologies in Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung districts from 2003, Bhojpur, Sankhuwashava, Terhathum and Dhankutta districts from 2009, and Jhapa and Sunsari districts from July 2010. RSC is implementing this program through the Local Partner Organization (LPO)/District Service Center (DSC) of the respective districts. RSC/NCDC has already facilitated to install 246303 numbers of ICS till date within 205 VDCs of nine working district through 18 number of the partner organization.

RSC has also facilitated the preparation of Decentralized Energy Management Initiative (DEMI) plan of 10 VDCs of the eastern region. It would make ease for the implementation of different types of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) in that VDC as per the demand and availability of technologies. RSC/NCDC had completed the DEMI plan of 8 VDCs.

Also, RSC facilitates to implement solar water drinking water projects to provide drinking water in the rural community from March 11, 2011. This program is mainly focused on the implementation of drinking water through solar water lifting systems. Till date, there are 15 drinking water system has been completed benefiting more than 300 households and 10 number of drinking water system are in the stage of implementation.

In addition to this, NCDC has facilitated to implement more than 60 numbers of Improved Water Mill (IWM) in the rural community.
