Namsaling Community Development Center (NCDC) is working as a Regional Renewable Energy Service Center (RRESC) of Alternative Energy Promotion Center/Energy Sector Assistance Program (AEPC/ESAP) since January 2001. RRESC is facilitating for the promotion and dissemination of Micro/Pico hydro project in seven hilly districts of eastern Nepal namely Ilam, Panchthar, Taplejung, Dhankutta, Tehrathum, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasava.

RRESC facilitates the users/developers in all the stages of Micro/Pico hydro development. Also, RRESC would facilitate for the establishment of end-uses development from the Micro Hydro Project. RRESC/NCDC has facilitate to complete about 94 number of MH/PH projects till the end of February 2011 from which 682.1 kW is generated and providing electricity to about 6776 numbers of rural households of eastern Nepal. Also, there are about 29 of MH/PH projects in under construction stage till the end of February 2011 from which 608.5 kW would be generated and would provide electricity to about 5528 numbers of rural households.

RRESC is also facilitating for the promotion and dissemination of biomass energy technologies in Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung districts from July 2003, Bhojpur, Sankhuwashava, Terhathum and Dhankutta districts from October 1, 2009 and Jhapa and Sunsari districts from July 1, 2010. RRESC is implementing this programme through the Local Partner Organization (LPO) of the respective districts in the hilly area and District Renewable Energy Service Center (DRESC) in the Terai region. RRESC/NCDC has already facilitate to install 39,361 numbers of ICS till the end of February 2011 within 205 VDCs of nine working district through 18 number of partner organization.

RRESC is also facilitating for the preparation of Decentralized Energy Management Initiative (DEMI) plan of a VDC. It would make ease for the implementation of different types of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) in that VDC as per the demand and availability of technologies. RRESC/NCDC has completed the DEMI plan of six VDCs (Soyang and Puwamjhuwa VDCs of Ilam district, Sanghu, Dhungesanghu and Khebang VDCs of Taplejung district and Prangbung VDC of Panchthar district) till now.
